The cool room is an essential asset in the handling and storage of cut flower and foliage products on the farm. Consistent temperature and humidity management is critical to maximise product quality, from the moment of harvest right through until the products leave the farm to begin the transport and distribution process.
As with all energy-consuming appliances, there is the potential to improve efficiency and save on the costs associated with running postharvest cooling and storage equipment. There are a number of ways in which cool room operation can be assessed and managed to improve efficiency and save both energy and money.
