The cut flower and foliage industry has completed a project designed to identify the chemical needs of the industry moving into the future. The project, Cut Flower and Foliage Industry Pesticide Gap Analysis (code FL10002) was co funded by Horticulture Australia Limited (HAL) and the Flower Association of Queensland Incorporated (FAQI). The project consulted widely with growers from across Queensland and interstate. The project’s main aim was to examine a database of currently available pesticides, herbicides and weed management chemicals and compare those to survey responses from growers. The survey questioned growers about chemicals for which they would like to have access and also pest and disease problems they believed were not adequately covered by legally available chemical options.
