Final Report – Determining optimum irrigation scheduling techniques for key wildflower crops

The Australian cut flower industry, like most Australian primary production, is reliant on water. The recent and prolonged drought in many parts of Australia has had a negative impact upon a number of Australian wildflower businesses. As producers’ dam levels have dropped so have crop yields to the point where the profitability of those enterprises have diminished drastically, resulting in some flower farmers leaving the industry.

The question for many was how to best utilise their limited irrigation water to minimise wastage and maximise the return from that resource.
