The spotlight was on new and experimental varieties across 14 species at the recent cut flower trials held at the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries Redland Research Station at Cleveland in Queensland.
The trials were hosted by family-owned wholesale nursery Highsun from south-east Queensland. The company produces a comprehensive range of quality your starter plants (plugs) which are distributed throughout Australia to cut flower growers, wholesale nurseries and landscapers.
On hand to explain the finer technical points were Highsun managing director and product manager Brad Skinner and sales managers Ron Sheldrick from New SouthWales, Michael Doensen from Victoria and Claude Micale from Western Australia.
One third of the greenhouse exhibited 120 varieties of Lisianthus. Cessna Blue, a full double, top flowering group three varieties suited to the February to April flowering period, and available exclusively through Highsun attracted many positive comments.
