The outcome of this project is several new varieties of Scholtzia involucrata that have great potential as cut flowers as well as garden plants. Varieties can now be grown that provide growers with flowering plants from mid November through until at least mid February. Potential also exists for use as garden plants since there is a shortage of flowering plants at this time of the year. Perhaps the most desirable variety for general gardens is the mid to late flowering form that has deep pink flowers and vigour as a plant.
