In previous issues, we looked at the types and value of cut flower and foliage products that have been imported into Australia over recent years. The information came out of a project by the Flower Association of Queensland Inc. (FAQI), with support from Horticulture Innovation Australia Limited (HIA) and data sourced from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
Another aspect of the project was to look at products that are exported from Australia. Here, we will explore some of the findings.
Decrease in exports
While the total value of imported floral products into Australia was found to increase over time, the total value of exports has fallen, by 64 per cent from 2008 through to 2013.
